Basic materials stocks finished down broadly on Wall Street on Thursday, with the sector seeing an overall decline of 0.6%.

More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average stayed consistent, the Nasdaq increased 0.3% and the S&P 500 stayed level.

Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:

• Chemtura Corp (CHMT): CHMT stock is up 4.8% today on 3 times normal volume.

• Albemarle Corp (ALB): ALB stock is up 1.0%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Ternium S.A. (TX): TX stock is up 0.9% today.

• Hudbay Minerals Inc (HBM): HBM stock is up 0.8%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

• National Steel Corp (SID): SID stock is up 0.8% today.

• Carpenter Technology Corp (CRS): CRS stock is up 0.6% today.

• Worthington Industries (WOR): WOR stock is up 0.6% today.

• New Gold Inc (NGD): NGD stock is up 0.6% today.

• Novagold Resources Inc (NG): NG stock is up 0.6% today.

• Reliance Steel & Aluminum Company (RS): RS stock is up 0.5%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has increased.

Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:

• Green Plains Renewable Energy (GPRE): GPRE stock is down 3.4% today.

• Circor International (CIR): CIR stock is down 2.6% today.

• Raven Industries (RAVN): RAVN stock is down 2.2% today.

• Sealed Air Corp (SEE): SEE stock is down 2.2% today on 2 times normal volume.

• Harmony Gold Mining Co. Ltd (HMY): HMY stock is down 2.1% today.

• Barrick Gold Corp (ABX): ABX stock is down 2.1% today.

• Schweitzer-Mauduit International (SWM): SWM stock is down 2.0% today.

• Olin Corp (OLN): OLN stock is down 1.8% today.

• Valhi Inc (VHI): VHI stock is down 1.5% to a new 52-week low of $7.47.

• Aurico Gold Inc (AUQ): AUQ stock is down 1.4% today.
