Basic materials stocks finished flat on Wednesday on Wall Street.
More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average remained flat, the Nasdaq declined 0.3% and the S&P 500 stayed the same.
Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:
- Green Plains Renewable Energy (GPRE): GPRE stock is up 2.3% today.
- Grupo Simec S.A. De C.V. (SIM): SIM stock is up 2.0% today.
- Fibria Celulose S.A. (FBR): FBR stock is up 1.2% today.
- Cytec Industries Inc (CYT): CYT stock is up 1.0%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.
- Plum Creek Timber Company (PCL): PCL stock is up 0.9%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.
- Cvr Partners LP Common Units R (UAN): UAN stock is up 0.9% today.
- Copene-Petroquimica Do Nordeste (BAK): BAK stock is up 0.7% today.
- Weyerhaeuser Company (WY): WY stock is up 0.7%, marking the fifth consecutive day the stock has increased.
- Gerdau S.A. (GGB): GGB stock is up 0.6% today.
- A. Schulman (SHLM): SHLM stock is up 0.6%, marking the fifth consecutive day the stock has increased.
Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:
- Gold Fields Ltd (GFI): GFI stock is down 3.0% today.
- Commercial Metals Company (CMC): CMC stock is down 2.4% today.
- Steel Dynamics (STLD): STLD stock is down 2.2% today.
- Cf Industries Holdings (CF): CF stock is down 2.2% today.
- Bhp Billiton Plc (BBL): BBL stock is down 2.2% today.
- Century Aluminum Company (CENX): CENX stock is down 2.1% today.
- Anglogold Ashanti Ltd (AU): AU stock is down 2.1%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.
- Silver Wheaton Corp (SLW): SLW stock is down 1.9%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has decreased.
- Berry Plastics Group Inc (BERY): BERY stock is down 1.8% today.
- Wd-40 Company (WDFC): WDFC stock is down 1.8% today.
