More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average pushed 0.1% higher, the Nasdaq remained flat and the S&P 500 was up 0.1%.
Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:
- Barrick Gold Corp (ABX): ABX stock is up 3.5%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.
- Newmont Mining Corp (NEM): NEM stock is up 3.4%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.
- Minerals Technologies Inc (MTX): MTX stock is up 2.2%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.
- Simpson Manufacturing Company (SSD): SSD stock is up 2.0% today.
- Enpro Industries (NPO): NPO stock is up 1.8%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.
- Globe Specialty Metals Inc (GSM): GSM stock is up 1.7%, marking the fifth consecutive day the stock has increased.
- Sociedad Quimica Y Minera S.A. (SQM): SQM stock is up 1.7% today.
- Teck Resources Ltd (TCK): TCK stock is up 1.7%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.
- Kronos Worldwide Inc (KRO): KRO stock is up 1.5% today.

- Grupo Simec S.A. De C.V. (SIM): SIM stock is down 2.1% today.
- Terra Nitrogen Company L.P. (TNH): TNH stock is down 1.2% today.
- National Steel Corp (SID): SID stock is down 1.0% today.
- Airgas Inc (ARG): ARG stock is down 0.9% today.
- Sun Hydraulics Corp (SNHY): SNHY stock is down 0.9% today.
- Air Products and Chemicals (APD): APD stock is down 0.8% today.
- Southern Peru Copper Corp (SCCO): SCCO stock is down 0.7% today.
- E.I. Du Pont De Nemours and Company (DD): DD stock is down 0.7% today.
- Praxair (PX): PX stock is down 0.6% today.
- Eastman Chemical Company (EMN): EMN stock is down 0.6% today.
