Elon Musk’s offer to share Tesla Motors (TSLA) battery charging technology with other automakers may have received a nibble in India, NDTVAuto reports.

tesla-tsla-stockMahindra Reva Electric Vehicles CEO Chetan Maini reportedly signaled interest in TSLA charging technology to Indian news outlets. “We will review them (patents) and it’s too early to comment on the direct benefit to us,” he said. He added that TSLA’s offer could alter the electric car industry. “As a philosophy, I do believe it’s going to make people rethink on IP and technology sharing,” he said.

Earlier this month Musk said that sharing some of TSLA’s proprietary technology relating to its battery Supercharger system could create an industry standard. In exchange for sharing its battery charging technology, TSLA expects other companies to contribute to the building of its network of Supercharging stations.

Mahindra has developed a number of electric vehicles for India’s domestic market and hopes to launch those vehicles commercially within three years.

In Monday morning trading, Tesla share rose almost 3%.
