Amazon (AMZN) is seeking approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to perform test of its drones.

amzn-amazonAmazon is requesting that the FAA let it test the drones on its own property. The company says that the drones will only be operated by a licensed pilot or someone who has received training from the FFA to be a pilot, reports USA Today.

Amazon’s drones can fly at speeds over 50 mph. The drones can also carry up to five pounds of weight. The company claims that this accounts for 86% of products that are sold on its website.

“One day, seeing Amazon Prime Air will be as normal as seeing mail trucks on the road today, resulting in enormous benefits for consumers across the nation,” the company told TechCrunch.
