More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.4%, the Nasdaq was down 0.2% and the S&P 500 fell 0.4%.

• Piedmont Natural Gas Company (PNY): PNY stock is up 0.8% today.

• Itc Holdings (ITC): ITC stock is up 0.2% today on 3 times normal volume.

Some of the biggest losers among utilities stocks include:

• Brookfield Infrastructure Partners LP (BIP): BIP stock is down 2.2% today.

• Dynegy Inc (DYN): DYN stock is down 1.6% today and down 21.6% in the last month.

• Mdu Res Group Inc (MDU): MDU stock is down 1.5% today.

• Exelon Corp (EXC): EXC stock is down 1.5% today.

• Teco Energy (TE): TE stock is down 1.5% today.

• Northwest Natural Gas Company (NWN): NWN stock is down 1.5% today.

• Scana Corp (SCG): SCG stock is down 1.5% today.

• Energy Transfer Equity LP (ETE): ETE stock is down 1.4% today.

• NiSource Inc (NI): NI stock is down 1.4% today.

• Integrys Energy Group (TEG): TEG stock is down 1.4% today.
