Pandora (P) has signed its first licensing deal with artists.

pandora-pPandora has singed a deal with Merlin, an independent label. This deal will give the artists under that label, such as Arcade Fire, Bad Religion and Lenny Kravitz, more money for song plays, reports the Associated Press.

Changes that could be made due to the licensing deal include bands under that label getting more play. These band may also be moved up on stations that would include them to give them extra plays. The deal could also open a way for artists under the Merlin label to better communicate with fans through Pandora, the Associated Press notes.

“Nobody is going to be worse off under this deal,” Charles Caldas CEO of Merlin, told CNet. “Merlin is not going to do any deals that would diminish the value of our artists.”

P shares were up 1% as of Wednesday afternoon.
