Basic materials stocks advanced broadly on Wall Street on Wednesday morning, with the sector seeing an overall increase of 0.5%.
More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.3%, the Nasdaq remained flat and the S&P 500 increased 0.3%.
Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:
- Aluminum Corporation of China Ltd (ACH): ACH stock is up 7.6%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.
- United States Steel Corp (X): X stock is up 4.0% today.
- Arcelormittal (MT): MT stock is up 3.1% today.
- Steel Dynamics (STLD): STLD stock is up 2.5% today.
- Nucor Corp (NUE): NUE stock is up 2.2% today.
- Gerdau S.A. (GGB): GGB stock is up 1.9%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.
- Century Aluminum Company (CENX): CENX stock is up 1.8%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.
- Vale S.A. (VALE): VALE stock is up 1.9% today.
- Alcoa Inc (AA): AA stock is up 1.8%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.
- Southern Peru Copper Corp (SCCO): SCCO stock is up 1.6% today.

- AK Steel Holding Corp (AKS): AKS stock is down 2.0% today.
- Bhp Billiton Plc (BBL): BBL stock is down 1.4% today.

- Bhp Billiton Limited (BHP): BHP stock is down 0.9% today.
- Sociedad Quimica Y Minera S.A. (SQM): SQM stock is down 0.6% today.
- Randgold Resources Limited (GOLD): GOLD stock is down 0.5% today.
- Graphic Packaging Holding Company (GPK): GPK stock is down 0.4% today.
- Wd-40 Company (WDFC): WDFC stock is down 0.5% today.
- Innospec Inc (IOSP): IOSP stock is down 0.4% today.
