Basic materials stocks rose broadly on Wall Street so far on Thursday, with the sector seeing an overall increase of 0.4%.
More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.4%, the Nasdaq increased 0.6% and the S&P 500 rose 0.4%.
Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:
- Dominion Diamond Corp (DDC): DDC stock is up 4.6% today.
- Trex Company (TREX): TREX stock is up 4.1% today.
- AK Steel Holding Corp (AKS): AKS stock is up 3.2% today.
- Gerdau S.A. (GGB): GGB stock is up 2.5%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has increased.
- Domtar Corp (UFS): UFS stock is up 2.3% today.
- United States Steel Corp (X): X stock is up 2.1% today.
- Fibria Celulose S.A. (FBR): FBR stock is up 1.8% today.
- Owens-Illinois (OI): OI stock is up 1.4% today.
- Alcoa Inc (AA): AA stock is up 1.4%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has increased.
- National Steel Corp (SID): SID stock is up 1.6% today.
Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:
- Syngenta Ag (SYT): SYT stock is down 1.4% today.
- W.R. Grace & Company (GRA): GRA stock is down 0.7% today.
- Sun Hydraulics Corp (SNHY): SNHY stock is down 0.7% today.
- Vale S.A. (VALE): VALE stock is down 0.6% today.
- Cliffs Natural Resources Inc (CLF): CLF stock is down 0.6%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.
- Rio Tinto Plc (RIO): RIO stock is down 0.6% today.
- Aluminum Corporation of China Ltd (ACH): ACH stock is down 0.6% today.
- Compania Mina Buenaventura S.A. (BVN): BVN stock is down 0.6% today.
- Arcelormittal (MT): MT stock is down 0.3% today.
- Praxair (PX): PX stock is down 0.4% today.
