Basic materials stocks rose broadly on Wall Street today, with the sector seeing an overall increase of 0.2%.

More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was unchanged, the Nasdaq fell 0.6% and the S&P 500 stayed consistent.

Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:

• Green Plains Renewable Energy (GPRE): GPRE stock is up 2.4% today.

• Leucadia National Corp (LUK): LUK stock is up 2.2% today on 3 times normal volume.

• Huntsman Corp (HUN): HUN stock is up 2.1% today.

• Murphy USA Inc. Common Stock Wh (MUSA): MUSA stock is up 1.9% today.

• Ternium S.A. (TX): TX stock is up 1.5%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Methanex Corp (MEOH): MEOH stock is up 1.5%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Packaging Corporation of America (PKG): PKG stock is up 1.4%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Pohang Iron & Steel Co. (PKX): PKX stock is up 1.3% today.

• Ball Corp (BLL): BLL stock is up 1.2%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

• International Paper Company (IP): IP stock is up 1.2%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has increased.

Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:

• Yamana Gold (AUY): AUY stock is down 2.4% today.

• Polypore International Inc (PPO): PPO stock is down 2.1% today.

• Agnico-Eagle Mines Limited (AEM): AEM stock is down 1.5% today.

• H. B. Fuller Company (FUL): FUL stock is down 1.4% today.

• Iamgold Corp (IAG): IAG stock is down 1.0% today.

• Kinross Gold Corp (KGC): KGC stock is down 1.0% today.

• Albany International Corp (AIN): AIN stock is down 1.0% today.

• Mueller Water Products (MWA): MWA stock is down 1.0% today.

• Minerals Technologies Inc (MTX): MTX stock is down 0.8% today.

• Worthington Industries (WOR): WOR stock is down 0.8% today.
