A tee-shirt for girls that reads “Training To Be Batman’s Wife” was recently spotted at Walmart (WMT) and on Amazon (AMZN). The shirt was immediately called out for being sexist and the retailers’ were subject to ridicule for carrying it, reports The Hollywood Gossip.

DC was quick to notice complaints about the Batman’s wife tee and issued a public apology for it. In its apology, DC said that it’s committed to empowering both genders and that it would take a look at its licensing and product design process. Walmart and Amazon have yet to comment on the issue, The Hollywood Gossip notes.

This isn’t the first time that DC has caught flak for its merchandise. A series of Justice League products at Target (TGT) were missing Wonder Woman, a DC board game didn’t have any female heroes when it was released and the first issue of Teen Titans was criticized for sexualizing Wonder Girl, a teenage superhero, reports ToyBox.
