Basic materials stocks declined 1.8% on Wall Street today.
More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 1.5%, the Nasdaq declined 1.4% and the S&P 500 was down 1.5%.
Only one stock in the basic materials sectors showed gains:
- Terra Nitrogen Company L.P. (TNH): TNH stock is up 1.5% today.
Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:
- Cliffs Natural Resources Inc (CLF): CLF stock is down 5.8% today and down 43.5% in the last month.
- Carlisle Companies Inc (CSL): CSL stock is down 4.7% today on 6 times normal volume.
- Kinross Gold Corp (KGC): KGC stock is down 3.4% today.
- Sealed Air Corp (SEE): SEE stock is down 3.6% today.
- Globe Specialty Metals Inc (GSM): GSM stock is down 3.5% today.
- Eldorado Gold Corp (EGO): EGO stock is down 3.4% today.
- Celanese Corp (CE): CE stock is down 3.3%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.
- Kronos Worldwide Inc (KRO): KRO stock is down 3.2% today.
- Valhi Inc (VHI): VHI stock is down 3.0%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has decreased.
- Ferro Corp (FOE): FOE stock is down 2.8% today.
