Is the stock market open on Columbus Day 2014?

U.S. stock markets are indeed open on Columbus Day 2014. However, bond markets are closed for the holiday along with the Canadian and Japanese stock markets. The last two markets are closed due to holidays in those countries, reports MarketWatch.

The next time that the U.S. stock markets will be closed for a holiday will be  Thanksgiving 2014. Thanksgiving takes place on Nov. 27, 2014, MarketWatch notes.

The remaining holidays that the U.S. stock market will be closed include Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.The U.S. Market will close down early on the Friday after Thanksgiving and on Christmas Eve Day. It will close at 1:00 p.m. on these days, reports TheStreet.

Most banks in the United States will also be closed for Columbus Day 2014. Other services that shut down for the holiday include some government offices, the United States Postal Service and more.
