According to Reuters, Google sent an application to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) concerning testing out the service. The application doesn’t specifically say that the company is looking into a Wi-Fi service, but there are hints that it could be, reports Reuters.

In the application sent to the FCC, Google asked permission to do test in California across wireless spectrums. One of the spectrums mentioned by the company is a millimeter-wave frequency that could transmit gigabits of data short distances in just a few seconds, Reuters notes.

This isn’t the first time that Google has tested out a wireless internet service. Back in 2013, the company provided wireless internet to a small, rural town in New Zealand with the help of a solar powered balloon.
