More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was steady, the Nasdaq stayed level and the S&P 500 was unchanged.

• Companhia Paranaense De Energia (ELP): ELP stock is up 2.5% today.

• El Paso Electric Company (EE): EE stock is up 2.4%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Cia De Saneamento Basico Do Estado (SBS): SBS stock is up 1.7% today.

• Cpfl Energia S.A. (CPL): CPL stock is up 0.9% today.

• Energy Transfer Equity LP (ETE): ETE stock is up 1.4%, marking the seventh consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Northwest Natural Gas Company (NWN): NWN stock is up 0.7% today.

• Uil Holdings Corp (UIL): UIL stock is up 0.8% today.

• Centrais Elc Braz Pfb B Elbras (EBR): EBR stock is up 1.6% today.

• Energy Transfer Partners (ETP): ETP stock is up 1.1%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

Some of the biggest losers among utilities stocks include:

• Abengoa Yield Plc (ABY): ABY stock is down 1.0% today.

• Huaneng Power Intl (HNP): HNP stock is down 1.1% today.

• Korea Electric Power Corp (KEP): KEP stock is down 0.7% today.

• Transalta Corp (TAC): TAC stock is down 0.4% today.
