More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 0.1%, the Nasdaq rose 0.4% and the S&P 500 climbed 0.1%.

- Sociedad Quimica Y Minera S.A. (SQM): SQM stock is up 1.9% today.
- RPM International Inc (RPM): RPM stock is up 1.5% today.
- Copene-Petroquimica Do Nordeste (BAK): BAK stock is up 0.7%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.
- Sherwin-Williams Company (SHW): SHW stock is up 0.6% today.
- PPG Industries (PPG): PPG stock is up 0.7% today.
- Air Products and Chemicals (APD): APD stock is up 0.5% today.
- Airgas Inc (ARG): ARG stock is up 0.5% today.
- Dominion Diamond Corp (DDC): DDC stock is up 0.5% today.
- Albemarle Corp (ALB): ALB stock is up 0.5% today.
- Mosaic Company (MOS): MOS stock is up 0.5% today.
Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:
- Yamana Gold (AUY): AUY stock is down 3.4% today and down 36.8% in the last month.
- Cliffs Natural Resources Inc (CLF): CLF stock is down 3.3%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has decreased.
- Trex Company (TREX): TREX stock is down 2.8% today.
- Greif Bros. Corp (GEF): GEF stock is down 2.3% today.
- Polyone Corp (POL): POL stock is down 2.3% today.
- Ternium S.A. (TX): TX stock is down 2.3% today.
- Freeport-Mcmoran Inc. (FCX): FCX stock is down 2.3% today.
- Southern Peru Copper Corp (SCCO): SCCO stock is down 2.0% today.
- Allegheny Technologies Inc (ATI): ATI stock is down 2.1% today.
- Methanex Corp (MEOH): MEOH stock is down 2.0% today.
