The 69-year-old slammed the coffee chain on his website for its involvement with Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA), a company that’s suing Vermont over labeling food products.

“Starbucks has teamed up with Monsanto to sue Vermont, and stop accurate food labeling,” wrote Neil Young. “Tell Starbucks to withdraw support for the lawsuit — we have a right to know what we put in our mouths.”

Neil Young’s popularity could make the Starbucks boycott a success despite the fact that the company is not involved in court proceedings. The coffee chain is a member of GMA.

“Starbucks is not a part of any lawsuit pertaining to GMO labeling nor have we provided funding for any campaign,” said the company in a release. “And Starbucks is not aligned with Monsanto to stop food labeling or block Vermont State law.

Should a Starbucks boycott occur?

SBUX stock is down 0.37% Monday afternoon.
