News that the company would open a research facility in Japan was first mentioned by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Abe mentioned the facility during a speech ahead of elections. The tech company said that the new location will add dozens of jobs to the area and that it will be one of its largest in Asia. Other details about the planned research facility are currently unknown.

TV: Apple TV has been updated to include a few new channels to in its lineup, AppleInisder notes. The update to the set-top box includes the addition of new channels from UFC, The Scene, Fusion, and DailyMotion. Along with the new channels be offered through the device, the YouTube app also got an upgrade. Now users with the set-top boxes can use them to subscribe to YouTube channels. The upgraded app also offers suggestions while searching and personalized recommendations.

iOS: Apple has released the iOS 8.1.2 update to users, reports BGR. The iOS 8.1.2 brings fixes to several bugs that were in the operating system. One such bug that has been fixed in the update was the loss of ringtones purchased from iTunes. Users are given instructions by Apple on how to restore their lost ringtones via iTunes. Other bug fixes included in the update solve problems found on iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches that use iOS 8.
