Basic materials stocks rose broadly on Wall Street on Wednesday morning, with the sector seeing an overall increase of 0.6%.
More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average pushed 0.9% higher, the Nasdaq was up 0.9% and the S&P 500 climbed 0.9%.
Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:
- Gerdau S.A. (GGB): GGB stock is up 6.5% today.
- Aluminum Corporation of China Ltd (ACH): ACH stock is up 4.2% today and up 24.0% in the last month.
- Compass Minerals Intl Inc (CMP): CMP stock is up 3.8% today.
- Grupo Simec S.A. De C.V. (SIM): SIM stock is up 3.6% today.
- National Steel Corp (SID): SID stock is up 3.0% today.
- Steel Dynamics (STLD): STLD stock is up 2.8% today.
- Century Aluminum Company (CENX): CENX stock is up 2.6% today.
- Huntsman Corp (HUN): HUN stock is up 2.3% today.
- Fibria Celulose S.A. (FBR): FBR stock is up 2.0% today.
- Murphy USA Inc. Common Stock Wh (MUSA): MUSA stock is up 1.7% today.
Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:
- RPM International Inc (RPM): RPM stock is down 8.8% today.
- Iamgold Corp (IAG): IAG stock is down 6.5% today.
- New Gold Inc (NGD): NGD stock is down 3.4% today.
- Yamana Gold (AUY): AUY stock is down 2.5% today.
- Novagold Resources Inc (NG): NG stock is down 2.7% today.
- Hecla Mining Company (HL): HL stock is down 1.9% today.
- Eldorado Gold Corp (EGO): EGO stock is down 2.3% today.
- Anglogold Ashanti Ltd (AU): AU stock is down 1.6% today.
- Compania Mina Buenaventura S.A. (BVN): BVN stock is down 1.0% today.
- Silver Wheaton Corp (SLW): SLW stock is down 1.2% today.
