More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.3%, the Nasdaq was up 0.5% and the S&P 500 fell 0.3%.

- Anglogold Ashanti Ltd (AU): AU stock is up 2.2% today and up 22.2% in the last month.
- Matthews International Corp (MATW): MATW stock is up 2.4% today.
- Southern Peru Copper Corp (SCCO): SCCO stock is up 1.1% today.
- United States Steel Corp (X): X stock is up 1.6% today.
- Rexnord Corp (RXN): RXN stock is up 1.7% today.
- Polyone Corp (POL): POL stock is up 1.4% today.
- Chemtura Corp (CHMT): CHMT stock is up 1.8% today.
- Eastman Chemical Company (EMN): EMN stock is up 1.1% today.
- Weyerhaeuser Company (WY): WY stock is up 1.4% today.
Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:
- Eldorado Gold Corp (EGO): EGO stock is down 13.5% today and down 32.6% in the last month.
- Pohang Iron & Steel Co. (PKX): PKX stock is down 3.9% today.
- National Steel Corp (SID): SID stock is down 3.1% today.
- Copene-Petroquimica Do Nordeste (BAK): BAK stock is down 2.6% today and down 21.6% in the last month.
- Methanex Corp (MEOH): MEOH stock is down 1.7% today.
- Aluminum Corporation of China Ltd (ACH): ACH stock is down 2.0%, marking the sixth consecutive day the stock has decreased.
- Vale S.A. (VALE): VALE stock is down 1.7% today.
- Kinross Gold Corp (KGC): KGC stock is down 2.1% today.
- Reliance Steel & Aluminum Company (RS): RS stock is down 1.9% today.
- Gerdau S.A. (GGB): GGB stock is down 2.6% today.
