The basic idea is that Internet service providers (ISPs) should make content available to consumers on an equal basis.

Unjust practices such as blocking or speeding up some sources for their own purposes go against the idea of net neutrality.

The concept is designed to help maintain a level playing field among ISPs. Practicing net neutrality helps ensure fair treatment for consumers and online services.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has proposed that online content should be treated equally by ISPs. This includes video streaming, music services and more.
