TurboTax has been temporarily shut down by parent company Intuit Inc. (INTU).

The company noticed a rise in fraudulent tax filings and stopped the online tax service for now. TurboTax is the most used online tax service in the US.

Personal information was breached but Intuit believes there was no security breach. The information may have been accessed from elsewhere and filed returns with it.

Software company Palantir is assisting in investigating the breach.

INTU stock is down 4.23% Friday afternoon.
