Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) Watch knockoffs are already showing up in China.
Recode reporters spotted a fake Apple Watch during a trip to Hong Kong. The device came in a box that read “Smart Watch” and didn’t list a manufacturer or brand. While the smart watch has a similar look and feel to Apple’s product, it wasn’t quite as polished.
The Apple Watch knockoff was bought for $45. It included a small camera that took black-and-white pictures and could also accept a SIM card. Neither of which the Watch can do. Apple refused to comment on the device when asked about it by Recode reporters.
One fake Apple Watch was actually shown off a CES earlier this year. The device was priced at $27 and charged via a USB cable. It also had a user interface similar to the product it was stealing from.
