More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 1.0%, the Nasdaq rose 0.8% and the S&P 500 pushed 1.0% higher.

• Olin Corp (OLN): OLN stock is up 3.2% today.

• Commercial Metals Company (CMC): CMC stock is up 2.8% today.

• Century Aluminum Company (CENX): CENX stock is up 2.7% today.

• Crown Cork & Seal Company (CCK): CCK stock is up 2.6% today.

• A. Schulman (SHLM): SHLM stock is up 2.8% today.

• Trex Company (TREX): TREX stock is up 2.3% today.

• Quaker Chemical Corp (KWR): KWR stock is up 2.4% today.

Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:

• Anglogold Ashanti Ltd (AU): AU stock is down 2.2% today.

• Agnico-Eagle Mines Limited (AEM): AEM stock is down 2.3% today.

• Hecla Mining Company (HL): HL stock is down 1.9% today.

• RBC Bearings Inc (ROLL): ROLL stock is down 2.4% today.

• Kinross Gold Corp (KGC): KGC stock is down 1.7% today.

• Hudbay Minerals Inc (HBM): HBM stock is down 1.7%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• Silver Wheaton Corp (SLW): SLW stock is down 1.4% today.

• Pan American Silver (PAAS): PAAS stock is down 1.4% today.

• Copene-Petroquimica Do Nordeste (BAK): BAK stock is down 1.7% today.

• Yamana Gold (AUY): AUY stock is down 0.8% today.
