More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.6%, the Nasdaq fell 0.4% and the S&P 500 was down 0.6%.

• Goldcorp Inc (GG): GG stock is up 1.5% today.

• Meadwestvaco Corp (MWV): MWV stock is up 1.4% today.

• Domtar Corp (UFS): UFS stock is up 1.0% today.

• Royal Gold (RGLD): RGLD stock is up 1.0% today.

• Simpson Manufacturing Company (SSD): SSD stock is up 0.9% today.

• Matthews International Corp (MATW): MATW stock is up 0.7% today.

• Pan American Silver (PAAS): PAAS stock is up 0.6% today.

• Universal Forest Products (UFPI): UFPI stock is up 0.5% today.

• Quaker Chemical Corp (KWR): KWR stock is up 0.2% today.

• Grupo Simec S.A. De C.V. (SIM): SIM stock is up 0.1% today.

Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:

• Gerdau S.A. (GGB): GGB stock is down 2.9%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• Lyondellbasell Industries Nv (LYB): LYB stock is down 2.7% today.

• Precision Castparts Corp (PCP): PCP stock is down 2.6% today.

• Olin Corp (OLN): OLN stock is down 2.4% today.

• Minerals Technologies Inc (MTX): MTX stock is down 2.0% today.

• Ternium S.A. (TX): TX stock is down 1.9% today.

• Mosaic Company (MOS): MOS stock is down 1.9% today.

• Rio Tinto Plc (RIO): RIO stock is down 1.8% today.

• Sinopec Shangai Petrochemical Company Ltd (SHI): SHI stock is down 1.8% today on 2 times normal volume.

• Valspar Corp (VAL): VAL stock is down 1.7% today.
