Keurig to Bring ‘My K-Cup’ After Customers Revolt

Keurig Green Mountain Inc (NASDAQ:GMCR) has announced that the “My K-Cup” will be making a return.

Keurig Machine from Green Mountain Coffee Roasters

When Keurig released its 2.0 coffee maker last year, consumers were angered by the removal of My K-Cup, which allowed them to use their own coffee flavors with the machine. After listening to customer complaints, the company has promised to return the custom cup to users, reports The Consumerist.

The lack of My K-Cup on the Keurig 2.0 ultimately hurt sales of the machine. Sales for accessories and brewers were down 23% following the release of the new machine. The company claims they removed it because the cup wouldn’t work with the new machine, but it was likely a business move to force users to buy its own brand of coffee, The Consumerist notes.

Keurig released its Q2 earnings report on Wednesday. The company failed to meet the expectations set by Wall Street. It also announced that it will be replacing its CFO later this year.
