Oculus Rift is finally preparing for its launch to the average consumer.

The consumer model of the Oculus Rift will be released in Q1 2016. The developers behind the VR headset didn’t announce a specific date. Preorders for the device are planned to start sometime later this year.

Oculus Rift is designed so that users can visit virtual worlds and play video games while standing or sitting. It was originally a Kickstarter project that met its goal. After completing its goal, Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) swooped in to buy the company behind the device.

The developers behind the Oculus Rift said they are excited to show off more games and software for the device in the coming weeks. They also mentioned that E3 is very close, meaning we may see more about the device then.
