More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.4%, the Nasdaq fell 0.3% and the S&P 500 was down 0.4%.
Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:
- Terra Nitrogen Company L.P. (TNH): TNH stock is up 1.0% today.
- Sinopec Shangai Petrochemical Company Ltd (SHI): SHI stock is up 0.8% today.
- Clearwater Paper Corp (CLW): CLW stock is up 0.3% today.
- Novagold Resources Inc (NG): NG stock is up 0.2% today.
- Royal Gold (RGLD): RGLD stock is up 0.2% today.
Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:
- Green Plains Renewable Energy (GPRE): GPRE stock is down 2.9%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has decreased.
- Vedanta Limited (VEDL): VEDL stock is down 3.0% to a new 52-week low of $11.47.
- Anglogold Ashanti Ltd (AU): AU stock is down 2.8% today.
- Teck Resources Ltd (TCK): TCK stock is down 2.5% today.
- Lyondellbasell Industries Nv (LYB): LYB stock is down 2.7% today.
- Kronos Worldwide Inc (KRO): KRO stock is down 2.4% today.
- Methanex Corp (MEOH): MEOH stock is down 2.1% today.
- Freeport-Mcmoran Inc. (FCX): FCX stock is down 2.0% today.
- Mrc Global Inc (MRC): MRC stock is down 2.2% today.
- Georgia Gulf Corp (AXLL): AXLL stock is down 2.0% today.
