Brad Pitt and Bill Maher are starting a protest against Costco (NASDAQ:COST) for selling eggs from caged hens.
Pitt wrote a letter to Costco CEO Craig Jelinek, informing him of how birds’ bones suffer atrophy of their muscles and bones from years of immobility.
“As you know, these birds producing eggs for your shelves are crammed five or more into cages that are not large enough for even one hen to spread her wings,” Pitt writes.
Maher said there would be more outrage if this kind of oppression was done against cats or dogs, but it’s the same thing at the end of the day.
COST stock is up 0.5% Thursday.
