More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.6%, the Nasdaq pushed 0.3% higher and the S&P 500 was up 0.6%.

• Teck Resources Ltd (TCK): TCK stock is up 3.0% today on 3 times normal volume.

• Gerdau S.A. (GGB): GGB stock is up 1.9% today.

• Domtar Corp (UFS): UFS stock is up 1.4% today.

• Packaging Corporation of America (PKG): PKG stock is up 1.1% today.

• Nucor Corp (NUE): NUE stock is up 1.1% today.

• Cameco Corp (CCJ): CCJ stock is up 0.8% today.

• Leucadia National Corp (LUK): LUK stock is up 0.7% today.

• Graphic Packaging Holding Company (GPK): GPK stock is up 0.7% today.

• Crown Cork & Seal Company (CCK): CCK stock is up 0.7% today.

• Commercial Metals Company (CMC): CMC stock is up 0.7% today.

Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:

• Randgold Resources Limited (GOLD): GOLD stock is down 4.3% today.

• Dominion Diamond Corp (DDC): DDC stock is down 3.9% today.

• Trex Company (TREX): TREX stock is down 3.6% today.

• Eldorado Gold Corp (EGO): EGO stock is down 3.4% today.

• Vedanta Limited (VEDL): VEDL stock is down 3.3% to a new 52-week low of $9.88.

• Royal Gold (RGLD): RGLD stock is down 2.9% today.

• Gold Fields Ltd (GFI): GFI stock is down 2.8% today.

• Agrium Inc (AGU): AGU stock is down 2.5% today.

• Yamana Gold (AUY): AUY stock is down 2.4% today.

• Olin Corp (OLN): OLN stock is down 2.3% today on 3 times normal volume.
