The SEPTA lottery will be held on Aug. 3. Those looking to get a pass and try their chance at the lottery can do so via the organization’s website. The lottery will allow participants to chose either Sept. 26, Sept. 27 as their travel dates and then one of a few travel times, reports Cherry Hill Courier Post.

The idea for the SEPTA lottery came about because ticket sales were too much for the organization to handle. The lottery will include 175,000 rail tickets for each day. If a winner doesn’t buy a ticket, another person that entered the contest will be selected, Cherry Hill Courier Post notes.

“As you are aware, last week, because of high demand, our site failed,” Jerria Williams, SEPTA’s director of media relations, told The Delaware County Daily Times. “We have determined that a real-time, e-commerce site is not a viable solution. Starting Monday, Papal visit passes will be available via online lottery.”
