Here are your Apple Rumors for today:

apple-rumors-ar-device-aaplBeta: Apple (AAPL) has released the eighth beta for its upcoming OS X 10.11 El Capitan operating system, reports AppleInsider. The new beta has been released alongside the sixth version of the public beta. It can be downloaded from the company’s developer portal and comes two weeks after the seventh version of the beta. El Capitan will mostly contain updates that improve performance for Mac users. However, it will also include some new features, such as Split View and Mission Control. Apple may show it off at its event coming up Sept. 9.

TV: A new rumor claims that the next-generation Apple TV will be released in October, 9to5Mac notes. According to this rumor, the new set-top box will cost $200 when it’s released. It’s believed that the new device will include updated software, Siri support, a new remote, an App Store and more. The rumor claims that Apple will bring this update to the third-generation TV, but that it won’t include the Siri support or the App Store. However, both devices are rumored to be able to use the company’s upcoming subscription streaming service, which may launch next year.

AR: Apple may be working on its own alternate reality device, reports Digital Trends. The tech company recently added Nick Thompson to its ranks. Prior to being hired by AAPL, Thompson was an engineer working on Microsoft’s Holoens headset. While his experience may be used to help the tech company with its own device, it’s also possible that he’s there for another reason. Thompson didn’t work on the software or visuals of the Hololens, but was rather an audio hardware engineer. He’s also worked with Apple in the past on Mac and Apple TV projects.
