Netflix Teams Up With SoftBank for Japan Launch

Netflix (NFLX) is preparing for its launch in Japan and it’s getting a little help from wireless carrier Softbank.

Teaming up with Softbank means that Netflix’s streaming service will be available in Japan wireless carrier’s customers. This means that customers of the carrier can have the streaming service added to their monthly bills without having to sign up for a separate account. They can do this at retail locations, over the phone or online, reports Fortune.

Netflix will be launching in Japan on Sept. 2. It’s team up with Softbank also means that the wireless carrier will starting selling devices with the company’s streaming app already installed on them. The expansion into Japan is part of the company’s effort to reach a global market by the end of next year, Fortune notes.

Netflix and Softbank will also be working together to create original content for its service in Japan. The streaming service will include three different theirs in the country that customers can choose from, reports The Wall Street Journal.
