Netflix (NFLX) has announced that it’s now offering unlimited maternity and paternity leave for its employees.
Netflix employees that have a child or adopt one are able to take as much paid time as they want off during the first year after doing so. The company said that one reason behind the change is that employees work better when they don’t have to worry about what’s going on at home, reports CNNMoney.
The move to offer unlimited maternity and paternity leave at Netflix now matches the company’s vacation and time-off policy. It also allows for parents to come back to work at full- or part-time hours at their discretion, CNNMoney notes.
“We want employees to have the flexibility and confidence to balance the needs of their growing families without worrying about work or finances,” Tawni Cranz, Netflix’s Chief Talent Officer, said in a blog post. “Each employee gets to figure out what’s best for them and their family, and then works with their managers for coverage during their absences.”
NFLX shares were up 3% as of Wednesday afternoon.
