Basic materials stocks rose broadly on Wall Street on Friday morning, with the sector seeing an overall increase of 0.7%.

More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 0.2%, the Nasdaq pushed 0.2% higher and the S&P 500 climbed 0.2%.

Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:

• Vedanta Ltd (VEDL): VEDL stock is up 12.6%, marking the sixth consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Teck Resources Ltd (TCK): TCK stock is up 10.4%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Kapstone Paper and Packaging Corp (KS): KS stock is up 9.8%, marking the sixth consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Hudbay Minerals Inc (HBM): HBM stock is up 9.4% today.

• Arcelormittal (MT): MT stock is up 8.5%, marking the sixth consecutive day the stock has increased.

• National Steel Corp (SID): SID stock is up 8.5%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has increased.

• International Paper Company (IP): IP stock is up 8.4%, marking the sixth consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Yamana Gold (AUY): AUY stock is up 7.7%, marking the sixth consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Compania Mina Buenaventura S.A. (BVN): BVN stock is up 6.8% today and up 25.1% in the last month.

• Packaging Corporation of America (PKG): PKG stock is up 4.8%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:

• Sinopec Shangai Petrochemical Company Ltd (SHI): SHI stock is down 3.6% today.

• Alcoa Inc (AA): AA stock is down 2.7% today.

• Murphy USA Inc. Common Stock Wh (MUSA): MUSA stock is down 0.8% today.

• Georgia Gulf Corp (AXLL): AXLL stock is down 1.0% today.

• Trex Company (TREX): TREX stock is down 0.4% today.

• Mrc Global Inc (MRC): MRC stock is down 0.7% today.

• Ashland Inc (ASH): ASH stock is down 0.4% today.

• Syngenta Ag (SYT): SYT stock is down 0.3% today.

• Watts Water Technologies (WTS): WTS stock is down 0.1% today.
