More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average pushed 0.8% higher, the Nasdaq increased 0.6% and the S&P 500 was up 0.8%.
Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:
- Methanex Corp (MEOH): MEOH stock is up 6.4%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has increased.
- Sinopec Shangai Petrochemical Company Ltd (SHI): SHI stock is up 5.5% today.
- Cf Industries Holdings (CF): CF stock is up 5.3%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has increased.
- Innospec Inc (IOSP): IOSP stock is up 5.3%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has increased.
- Bhp Billiton Plc (BBL): BBL stock is up 5.1%, marking the seventh consecutive day the stock has increased.
- Ferro Corp (FOE): FOE stock is up 5.0%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has increased.
- Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan Inc (POT): POT stock is up 4.6% today on 2 times normal volume.
- Trex Company (TREX): TREX stock is up 4.6% today.
- Aluminum Corporation of China Ltd (ACH): ACH stock is up 4.7% today.
- Mosaic Company (MOS): MOS stock is up 4.4%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has increased.

- Anglogold Ashanti Ltd (AU): AU stock is down 3.3% today.
- Agnico-Eagle Mines Ltd (AEM): AEM stock is down 2.2% today.
- Chemtura Corp (CHMT): CHMT stock is down 2.1% today.
- Compania Mina Buenaventura S.A. (BVN): BVN stock is down 1.3% today.
- Gold Fields Ltd (GFI): GFI stock is down 0.7% today.
- Barrick Gold Corp (ABX): ABX stock is down 1.0% today.
- Newmarket Corp (NEU): NEU stock is down 0.5% today.
- Copene-Petroquimica Do Nordeste (BAK): BAK stock is down 0.6% today.
- Reliance Steel & Aluminum Company (RS): RS stock is down 0.5% today.
- Compass Minerals Intl Inc (CMP): CMP stock is down 0.3% today.
