The publication reveals that the trend of colder winters that has transpired over the last few years will continue. There will also be more snow than usual in most regions around the U.S.

The Northeast will be slightly colder than usual, with a normal amount of snow but a little extra rain. The coldest period of the season in the mid- to latter parts of December, January, February and early March.

The Upper Mid-West will also feature lower temperatures compared to last winter, as well as extra rain and snow. Fans of winter sports will enjoy the excess of snow, which will be especially prevalent in December, mid-January and all of February.

Seattle and the rest of Cascadian is known for its rain, and this winter will feature more precipitation than usual, the Old Farmer’s Almanac predicts. The Pacific Northwest will see the most snow in early December and mid-January.

The Intermountain region — comprised of mountainous areas in California, Colorado, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, Oregon, Washington — will have warmer temperatures than usual. However, colder weather will strike throughout December and in the latter part of January.

Colorado ski aficionados will be happy to hear that more snow will fall on the Rockies than in previous years. Grab your snowboard and head over to the legendary mountains in late November, the early part of December, and the middle of January, which will be the snowiest times of the winter.

Residents of Alabama, Georgia and the rest of the Appalachian region will enjoy a mild winter, with higher temperatures than before. However, it will get frigid in the early parts of December and January, so make sure to get your winter attire in time.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac has been around since 1792, and it claims to predict the weather in North America with about an 80% accuracy.
