Columbus Day, Stock Market

Investors may be wondering “Is the stock market closed on Clumbus Day 2016?” Those hoping for a day off are out of luck. The stock market will still be open when next Monday rolls around. However, the Bond market will be closed.

The next major holiday after Columbus Day is Veteran’s Day. It will occur on Nov. 11, 2016, which is a Friday. The stock market will also be open on this day. As with Columbus Day before it, the Bond market will be closed.

The next time that the stock market will close for a holiday is Nov. 24, 2016. This is Thanksgiving Day. The Bond market will also be closed on this day. While the stock market will be open on the day after Thanksgiving, Black Friday, it will close early. This will have the market closing at 1:00 P.M. Eastern Time.

The stock market isn’t the only thing that will be closing down for Thanksgiving Day. Several retailers have also agreed to keep their doors closed for the holiday. This allows their employees to spend the holiday with their families. It also gives them time to recharge before they have to face the hoards of shoppers looking for great deals on Black Friday.

Following Thanksgiving Day, there will only be one more time in 2016 that the stock market will close. This is Dec. 25, 2016, which is Christmas Day. However, it will also close early on Christmas Eve Day.
