Metallica is once again at the forefront of the music industry, 33 years after the release of the heavy metal band’s first album.

In order to celebrate the thrashers new song from their upcoming album, they have launched a Halloween promotion. Here’s what you should know about it:

  • The new song is called “Atlas, Rise!” and it will be released this Halloween, October 31 at 3:00 p.m. EST / 12:00 p.m. PST.
  • The song is the third track that Metallica is releasing to the public from their new album “Hardwired… To Self-Destruct.” The first two where “Hardwired” and “Moth Into Flame.”
  • The aging rockers are proving that they’re still among the most relevant music acts in the world by launching a promotion that will begin Friday, October 28. Fans can visit select independent record stores for the chance to win a free, limited-edition “Hardwired… To Self-Destruct” Halloween mask.
  • Each mask has an access code that will give fans the opportunity to hear the new song 30 minutes before its official release.
  • The new Metallica album will be released on November 18 via Blackened Recordings.

Metallica’s storied career is being celebrated with the new album, which will mark the tenth studio release by the band. The musicians have sold more than 110 million albums worldwide, about half of which have been sold in the U.S.

The band has won nine Grammys over the years, including the 1992 “Best Metal Performance” award for their 1991 self-titled album, which is the best-selling album in the U.S. since Nielsen Soundscan started tracking album sales in 1991, selling north of 16 million copies.
