Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominees

Those who get enshrined into the Cleveland hall gain immortality in the eyes of the public, even if they are no longer with us. Tupac Shakur passed away in the 1990s but he’s among the favorites to make it to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year.

The frontrunner is probably Pearl Jam, who released one of the best-selling records of all time with 1990s Ten. The album included a slate of radio-friendly hits including “Jeremy,” “Alive and “Even Flow.”

“Personal Jesus” and “Enjoy the Silence” electronic pioneers Depeche Mode are also among the favorites. Other Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees include Electric Light Orchesta, Jane’s Addiction and Janet Jackson.

The Cars, the Zombies, Yes and Journey are all hopefuls as well as all of these musicians helped define the culture of their time. Other nominees include Bad Brains, Chaka Khan, Chic, J. Geils Band, Joan Baez, Joe Tex, Kraftwerk, MC5 and Steppenwolf.

The inductees will be announced in December, while the induction ceremony will take place next April. HBO will broadcast the event, which will happen at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

The public will have the opportunity to vote, along with more than 800 musicians, historians and music industry insiders that make up the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame voting body.
