United Parcel Service, Inc. Hiring 1,250 in Atlanta

United Parcel Service, Inc. (NYSE:UPS) announced that it is hiring at least 1,250 employees in its Atlanta offices.

The company announced that it is spending $400 million to launch a regional hub in Georgia that will help bring jobs to the west side of Atlanta. 14 new jumbo cargo aircrafts are also on the process of being created by UPS.

Louisville is also getting a new hub where cargo planes will fly toward and from every day in addition to $196 million that will be spent to create a ground packaging hub in Jacksonville. The sorting facility in Louisville will cost $300 million.

UPS is looking to become more modern and expand with these new hubs, according to company spokeswoman Susan Rosenberg. The Atlanta location will be located at a place that is struggling economically at the moment in Fulton County, where there is a 341-acre industrial site and it will open in late 2018.

Atlanta has held the global headquarters of UPS for more than two decades now, said UPS CEO David Abney.“This strategic capital investment will feature state-of-the-art technology.”

He added that the company will combine strong transportation connections with a talented selection of applicants from the Georgia city that will help to meet the company’s customer demands, in and outside of the Southern state.

UPS has more than 14,000 people across the state of Georgia.

UPS shares gained 0.6% Friday.
