Parkay Spray Contains HOW Many Calories?

parkay sprayA lawsuit against ConAgra (NYSE:CAG) is trying to obtain class-action status.

The suit — filed last August by Pamela Trewhitt, of Nebraska — alleges that the company misleads customers about Parkay Spray, reports Huffington Post.

Parkay Spray is a butter alternative that says on the label that it is both calorie- and fat-free. However, the suit alleges that each 8-ounce bottle contains 832 calories and 93 grams of fat. It also says that, to arrive at the numbers it uses, the company limited the test to an unrealistic size of five sprays.

Now the suit is seeking class-action status. The consumer protection law firm Hagens Berman — which represents Trewhitt — asked the U.S. District Court for California to make the change in a filing March 21. Hagens Berman managing partner Steve Berman says the potential number of plaintiffs in the class-action suit could end up in the millions.

“We stand behind the accuracy of our labeling and believe this suit to be without merit,” a ConAgra spokeswoman said about the lawsuit.
