HBO GO Crashes During True Detective Finale

Too many people tried to sign on at once

Some fans of HBO’s hit crime show True Detective were left hanging on Sunday night.

People who tried to view the season finale of the critically-acclaimed series via HBO GO, the cable network’s streaming app, were unable to view the show. Many users reported that the HBO GO app crashed, leaving them with just the “loading” circle spinning endlessly on their screens, USA TODAY notes.

According to HBO, the problem resulted from too many users trying to sign into the HBO GO app at once. In order to view content through HBO GO, subscribers to the cable network must first enter login with a password.

Frustrated users quickly took to Twitter (TWTR) to broadcast their dismay, with some joking that the crash of the HBO GO app might have been caused by too many people sharing their passwords with friends and family.

HBO is owned by Time Warner (TWX). True Detective pairs actors Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as cops who spend more than a decade tracking a serial killer across Louisiana.
