Thursday Apple Rumors: Mac Users May Get Their Own Version of Siri

apple-aaplFeatures: A detailed overview of features that are said to be making it into Apple’s (AAPL) iPhone 6 has been released by VentureBeat. The detailed overview claims to come from a reliable source and highlights several features that have been the subject of previous rumors. This report claims that both version of the iPhone 6 will be shown off at the September 9 event. It also states that the next generation of the iPhone won’t have a screen made of Sapphire glass, but that it will still be stronger than Gorilla Glass. According to the source, the new iPhone will also have an A8 chip running at 2.0 GHz and several other upgrades.

Siri: A new patent from Apple shows that Siri may be coming to Macs, reports Cnet. The patent, which was published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on Thursday, is made up of 92 pages that detail an “Intelligent digital assistant in a desktop environment.” The patent includes information that details the applications use on a desktop without any hands-on activity. This means the app may be able to open via voice commands. The patent also claims that the app could use context clues to determine what a user is wanting from it.

FaceTime: A patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on Thursday shows possible changes to the FaceTime camera and flash in Apple’s future iPhones, AppleInsider notes. The patent details a front-facing camera and flash that could be hidden underneath the speaker grill found on a portable device. The patent also claims that the flash light on the front of the device could be used to let users know when they have received a message. Current versions of Apple products don’t feature a flash on front-facing cameras. The change would also make for a cleaner design as the camera couldn’t be seen by users.
