Apple’s battery replacement offer is valid for certain iPhone 5 devices that were sold between September 2012 and January 2013. iPhones affected by the battery issues also have certain serial numbers. These serial numbers can be checked on the company’s support page.

Users who need to find their iPhone 5 serial number can do so by going to Settings then General and finally About on their devices. Serial numbers can also be found on the products’ original packaging and on iTunes by linking the device to Apple’s online service.

Certain stipulations apply to Apple’s iPhone 5 battery replacement offer. For example, if the phone suffers from certain types of damage, such as a cracked screen, it may have to be repaired before the company will replace the faulty battery. This can result in fees for the additional fixes.

Owners of an iPhone 5 that suffers from battery issues can have it replaced through an Apple retail store, an authorized service provider or the comapny’s technical support. iPhone 5 owners are advised to back up their data before having their smartphone battery replaced.
