Facebook Product Management Director Adam Mosseri goes over some of the changes to the company’s app in a blog. He specifically notes that the way the company collects data information in its new iOS 8 app hasn’t changed when compared to previous versions of the app.

One change that had been made to the app comes via Apple. Apple has set up iOS 8 so that users can choose one of three options when controlling location settings in apps. This will allow users of the Facebook app to set its location settings to Always, While Using the App, or Never.

Previous versions of the Facebook app simply allowed users to turn locations settings On or Off. Users who upgrade to the new app that have their location settings turned On will have them set to Always. These settings can be changed through iOS 8.

AAPL and FB shares were up slightly as of Thursday afternoon.
