Basic materials stocks advanced broadly on Wall Street so far on Tuesday, with the sector seeing an overall increase of 0.6%.

More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.6%, the Nasdaq pushed 0.9% higher and the S&P 500 rose 0.6%.

Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:

• Valhi Inc (VHI): VHI stock is up 4.8% today.

• Mueller Water Products (MWA): MWA stock is up 4.2% today.

• Hudbay Minerals Inc (HBM): HBM stock is up 3.8% today.

• Cliffs Natural Resources Inc (CLF): CLF stock is up 4.6% today.

• Pohang Iron & Steel Co. (PKX): PKX stock is up 3.1% today.

• Globe Specialty Metals Inc (GSM): GSM stock is up 2.9% today.

• Lyondellbasell Industries Nv (LYB): LYB stock is up 2.0% today.

• Bhp Billiton Limited (BHP): BHP stock is up 2.4% today.

• Arcelormittal (MT): MT stock is up 2.4% today.

• Intrepid Potash Inc (IPI): IPI stock is up 2.3% today.

Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:

• Sinopec Shangai Petrochemical Company Ltd (SHI): SHI stock is down 1.6%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• W.R. Grace & Company (GRA): GRA stock is down 1.2%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• DOW Chemical Company (DOW): DOW stock is down 0.9%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• Grupo Simec S.A. De C.V. (SIM): SIM stock is down 0.6% today.

• Green Plains Renewable Energy (GPRE): GPRE stock is down 0.8%, marking the seventh consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• Methanex Corp (MEOH): MEOH stock is down 0.5% today and down 20.9% in the last month.

• Copene-Petroquimica Do Nordeste (BAK): BAK stock is down 0.6% today.

• Aluminum Corporation of China Ltd (ACH): ACH stock is down 0.4%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• Cf Industries Holdings (CF): CF stock is down 0.3%, marking the fifth consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• FMC Corp (FMC): FMC stock is down 0.2%, marking the fifth consecutive day the stock has decreased.
