Basic materials stocks advanced broadly on Wall Street so far on Monday, with the sector seeing an overall increase of 0.5%.

More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.5%, the Nasdaq rose 0.4% and the S&P 500 climbed 0.5%.

Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:

• National Steel Corp (SID): SID stock is up 5.0% today.

• Sinopec Shangai Petrochemical Company Ltd (SHI): SHI stock is up 5.0% today.

• Gerdau S.A. (GGB): GGB stock is up 3.7%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Vale S.A. (VALE): VALE stock is up 3.9% today.

• Century Aluminum Company (CENX): CENX stock is up 3.7% today.

• Anglogold Ashanti Ltd (AU): AU stock is up 3.2% today.

• Dominion Diamond Corp (DDC): DDC stock is up 3.3%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Fibria Celulose S.A. (FBR): FBR stock is up 3.2% today.

• Albemarle Corp (ALB): ALB stock is up 3.0%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Copene-Petroquimica Do Nordeste (BAK): BAK stock is up 3.0%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has increased.

Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:

• Compania Mina Buenaventura S.A. (BVN): BVN stock is down 2.1%, marking the seventh consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• Green Plains Renewable Energy (GPRE): GPRE stock is down 1.5% today and down 24.6% in the last month.

• Pohang Iron & Steel Co. (PKX): PKX stock is down 1.1%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• Rexnord Corp (RXN): RXN stock is down 0.7% today.

• Terra Nitrogen Company L.P. (TNH): TNH stock is down 0.4%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• New Gold Inc (NGD): NGD stock is down 0.2% today and down 20.9% in the last month.

• RBC Bearings Inc (ROLL): ROLL stock is down 0.2% today.

• Valhi Inc (VHI): VHI stock is down 0.2%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• Steel Dynamics (STLD): STLD stock is down 0.1% today.
