Facebook (FB) Bus Drivers Vote to Unionize

Facebook (FB) bus drivers have decided to join the Teamsters union.

facebook-unionize-fbThe Facebook bus drivers decided to unionize on Wednesday with a vote of 43 to 28. This decision means that Loop Transportation, the contractor that employs the workers, will negotiate with Teamsters Local 853, reports USA Today.

One of the major complaints that Facebook bus drivers have is the split shifts they work. These shifts have bus drivers escorting employees to work in the morning and back home at night. However, the drivers aren’t compensated for the time in between and some have to sleep in their cars during this time, USA Today

notes.

“We can’t continue 16-hour days, having drivers sleeping in the cold in their cars while we wait five hours to be able to start our next shift. It’s inhumane,” Cliff Doi, a driver for Loop Transportation, told Cnet. “With our union, we can find solutions to these problems.”
