Basic materials stocks rose broadly on Wall Street today, with the sector seeing an overall increase of 0.2%.

More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.1%, the Nasdaq was up 0.2% and the S&P 500 was down 0.1%.

Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:

• Olin Corp (OLN): OLN stock is up 2.1% today.

• Schweitzer-Mauduit International (SWM): SWM stock is up 1.7% today.

• Kinross Gold Corp (KGC): KGC stock is up 1.7% today.

• Graphic Packaging Holding Company (GPK): GPK stock is up 1.5% today.

• Kaiser Aluminum Corp (KALU): KALU stock is up 1.4% today.

• Curtiss-Wright Corp (CW): CW stock is up 1.3%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Kapstone Paper and Packaging Corp (KS): KS stock is up 1.3% today.

• Polyone Corp (POL): POL stock is up 1.3% today.

• Ferro Corp (FOE): FOE stock is up 1.2%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.

• RPM International Inc (RPM): RPM stock is up 1.2% today.

Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:

• National Steel Corp (SID): SID stock is down 3.1%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• Green Plains Renewable Energy (GPRE): GPRE stock is down 1.9%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• Valhi Inc (VHI): VHI stock is down 1.5% today.

• Hudbay Minerals Inc (HBM): HBM stock is down 1.4% today.

• Bhp Billiton Limited (BHP): BHP stock is down 1.3%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• AK Steel Holding Corp (AKS): AKS stock is down 1.3% today.

• Agnico-Eagle Mines Limited (AEM): AEM stock is down 1.2% today and down 20.9% in the last month.

• Sasol Ltd (SSL): SSL stock is down 1.2% today.

• Calgon Carbon Corp (CCC): CCC stock is down 1.1% today.

• Vale S.A. (VALE): VALE stock is down 1.1%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.
